What we do with your information.

Written to be read by a parent rather than by a lawyer. It says what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to get it deleted.

Who we are

Hensard British Academy, Plot 147, Cadastral Zone B7-04, Peyi Layout, Bwari Road, Abuja. We are the data controller for the information described on this page. Registered company name and RC number, and whether the controller is the Academy or Hensard University.to confirm

What we collect, and why

When you enquire, we collect your name, your telephone number and your email address, so that we can reply to you.

When you apply, we collect the applicant’s name and date of birth, the parent or guardian’s contact details, a birth certificate, the most recent school report, and one government-issued photo identification for the parent or guardian. We ask for a photo ID to confirm that the person applying is who they say they are. You choose which form of identification to send; we do not require a National Identification Number.

We collect what we need to assess an application and to contact you about it. We do not collect anything for marketing, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone outside the school.

Our lawful basis

For enquiries and applications, our basis is the steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, together with our legitimate interest in running an admissions process. For enrolled pupils, it is the contract between the school and the parent, and our legal obligations as a school. Confirm this framing with counsel against the NDPR and the Nigeria Data Protection Act.to confirm

Who sees it

Application documents are visible only to the admissions staff and the Principal. They are stored encrypted rather than as plain files, and every access is logged.

Payments are processed by Paystack, who receive the payment details directly. We do not see or store card details at any point.

Any other processor: hosting provider, email provider, any analytics. Each one needs naming here and a data processing agreement behind it.to confirm

How long we keep it

Every retention period below still has to be set by the school with legal advice. A school that keeps children’s documents indefinitely because nobody decided otherwise is the common failure here.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you or your child, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and object to how we use it. Write to info@hensardbritishacademy.com and we will respond within Response window. NDPR practice is 30 days; confirm.to confirm.

If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Fonts are served from our own domain rather than from Google, so visiting a page sends nothing to a third party.

If analytics are added later, a cookie consent banner becomes necessary and this section has to change. Worth deciding before launch rather than after.to confirm

Children

Most of the information we hold is about children, and it is provided by a parent or guardian. We do not ask children to submit their own information through this site.

Photographs

Consent process for photographing pupils and using those photographs on the website, in the prospectus and on social media. This needs a written consent form signed at enrolment, and an opt-out that is actually honoured. The site currently uses photographs whose consent status is unknown.to confirm
