About us

Twelve years on this campus, under a new name.

Hensard British Academy is a co-educational boarding and day school in Bwari, Abuja. It taught for twelve years as The British Oasis Academy before joining the Hensard University group. The grounds, and much of the staff, did not change.

What kind of school this is

We teach the Nigerian curriculum and a British programme side by side, from Basic 1 through to Senior Secondary 3. A pupil can sit WAEC and NECO, or follow the international route, without ever moving schools. Boarding is available from Basic 7; younger pupils attend as day pupils.

The site is closed and gated, on Bwari Road in Abuja. Every pupil is signed in and out by name. A nurse and security are on the campus every night of term.

The change of ownership

In 2026 the school was acquired by Hensard University, whose main campus is at Toru-Orua in Bayelsa State. The British Oasis Academy became Hensard British Academy. The intention of the new ownership is not to start a school but to raise one that already works: the same grounds, more investment in teaching, laboratories and sport, and a mapped route into the university for pupils who want it.

The twelve core values below are the University’s, and they now apply here in the same way they apply there, to pupils, teachers and staff alike.

Our mission

To educate young men and women to the highest academic standard, in a disciplined and God-fearing community, and to send them into the world able to serve it.to confirm

Our vision

To be the school in Abuja that families choose for the quality of its teaching and the character of its pupils.to confirm

Both statements above are drafts written for the Principal and Board to approve, amend or replace. Nothing here has been adopted.

From Basic 1 to a degree, without leaving the family.

The Academy sits within the Hensard University group. Pupils who complete Senior Secondary here progress into the university on a route mapped from their first day in uniform. No pupil is obliged to take it, and the school prepares every leaver for entry anywhere.

The campus.

A closed site on Bwari Road, with classrooms, laboratories, a library, boarding houses, a clinic, and grounds for football, basketball and athletics.
