A new Principal takes office
Mr William Stephen Pope, with more than four decades in education across South Africa and Nigeria, joins the Academy.

Mr William Stephen Pope has been appointed Principal of Hensard British Academy and takes up the post ahead of the first term of the 2026/27 session.
He brings more than forty years in education, in South Africa and in Nigeria, and has led schools through periods of change before. His brief here is straightforward: raise the standard of teaching, hold the line on discipline, and build the sport and music programmes into something a pupil would choose the school for.
Speaking about the appointment, he said that a school is judged by what its pupils become rather than by what its brochure claims, and that the work of getting there is unglamorous and continuous.
He will speak at every Open Morning this year and takes questions afterwards.
